Bags of fun, loads of rubbish

Gavin Turk, justifiably one of the 'Young Turks' who became BritArt, is now well established as a contemporary British avant-garde artist. His current show at the White Cube Gallery in Hoxton, London displays a series of painted bronze items clearly inspired by the binbags we all love to hate. Entitled 'Pile' and 'Dump' they solemnise such disposal units, commemorating our overspending, wastage and consumerist habits with the gravitas of sacrificial urns. Look out New York Customs, they will soon be dumped in a collection near you.
